In April, 2018, An-Najah Physics Department celebrated the graduation of the first physics PhD cohort.

The cohort included Student Raed Jaradat who discussed his PhD thesis on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Jaradat is first physics PhD alumni of a Palestinian university.

The thesis titled: "FP-LAPW Study of Structural, Electronic, Elastic and Optical Properties of Alkali Hydrides Compounds XH (X= Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs)" was supervised by Dr. Mohammed Abu Jafar and Prof. Issam Abdelraziq from An-Najah Physics Department.

Student Jaradat expressed his delight for achieving this success and thanked An-Najah administration and staff as well as his family for offering him support throughout his study years.

On this occasion, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah congratulated Jaradat and mentioned that the University aspires to offer more accredited programmes for graduate and post-graduate studies.

Dr. Maen Ishtaiwi, Head of the Physics Department at An-Najah said that the PhD programme offered our students the opportunity to achieve their dreams and continue their higher studies without the need of travelling abroad.
