On Sunday, January 28th, 2018, the Office of International Development and External Affairs in cooperation with the Faculty of Science at An-Najah received the Physics and Climate Change scientist, Prof. Chirag Dhara, who has dual PhDs in theoretical physics (quantum mechanics, communication and information) and in climate physics.

Prof. Dhara met with Dr. Raed Al-Koni, Dean of the Faculty of Science in addition to a number of faculty staff from the Physics Department. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Geography Department and another Geography professor.

After he welcomed the guest, Dr. A-Koni talked about the faculty's academic achievements, and their ongoing interest for new topics for their research projects. Project proposals and scientific collaboration opportunities were also discussed during the meeting.

Prof. Dhara also gave a lecture on global climate change at the Faculty of Science seminar hall in the New Campus.

He talked about the climate change that occurred recently in the world and the role of man in affecting the change. He also mentioned that global climate change is a reality and exhibited global temperatures between 1850 and 2016.

He also talked about melting glaciers as he exhibited the snow milting rates during the past 30 years and sea level rising.
