As part of its strategic plan input to expand scientific research, international collaboration and expertise exchange, An-Najah sent a delegation headed by Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President and Dr Ahmed Bassalat of the Physics Department and Chair of the Winter School of High Energy Physics in Palestine (WISHEPP) to the European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN in Geneva.

The delegation was invited by CERN to start the implementation of the computer devices grant offered to establish an excellence centre in high energy physics in Palestine which will be located at An-Najah campus.

This excellence centre is one of WISHEPP outcomes, which is organized annually in cooperation with a number of European centres and universities especially French ones.

The delegation attended several meetings with the partners to discuss exchange possibilities and prepare for further cooperation agreements.

CERN is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research. At CERN, the work helps to uncover what the universe is made of and how it works by providing a unique range of particle accelerator facilities to researchers, to advance the boundaries of human knowledge.
