July 29th 2010. Under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the Faculty of Science at the University held an honouring ceremony for the winners of the 2010 Teaching Excellence Award. Attendees included Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sulaiman Khalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University as well as a number of faculties' deans, members of the teaching and administrative staff and others.

 

 

The ceremony included honouring two professors who had contributed significantly to the field of science, particularly physics and chemistry. Professor Sami Jaber from the Department of Physics and Professor Basem Shraideh from the Department of Chemistry at the University were honoured for their notable efforts and significant work in the field of physics and chemistry. The ceremony was also held to celebrate the two professors' winning of the 2010 Teaching Excellence Award which is part of the Palestinian Faculty Development Program (PFDP) and is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Open Society Institute for the development of academic education in Palestine.

 

 

Dr. Khalil welcomed the attendants and started his speech by congratulating Professor Jaber and Professor Shraideh on winning the Teaching Excellence Award and their substantial effort and contribution to the field of science. He also emphasized that the Faculty of Science will pursue its quest to achieve more success in the future and carry on its long-term plan to reach excellence and develop academic education in Palestine.

 

Prof. Hamdallah congratulated the two professors and valued the efforts that professors at the University are exerting to keep the University in the lead as a unique educational institution in the region.
