Professor Ghassan Saffarini, staff member at the Physics Department and Dr. Hamzeh Al-Zabadi, Head of the Public Health Department at An-Najah's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences have recently won the Arab American University Award for Excellence in Scientific Research 2017.

The researchers won for their research titled: “Radon in Harvested Rainwater in Palestine” which was published by the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity.

The Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2.310 impact factor, provides a coherent international forum for publication of original research or review papers on any aspect of the occurrence of radioactivity in natural systems.
The research paper was conducted in cooperation with Prof. Issam Al-Khatib from the Institute of Environmental and Water Studies at Birzeit University.
