Vision
To become a leading academic program in Palestine in Molecular Diagnostic Technology, recognized for excellence in education, research, innovation, and the preparation of highly qualified professionals capable of addressing emerging genetic healthcare and diagnostic needs.
Mission
To provide high-quality, research-based undergraduate education in Molecular Diagnostic Technology through interdisciplinary teaching, modern laboratory training, and exposure to current advances in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, proteomics, microbiology, virology, and computational biology. The program aims to prepare competent, ethical, and innovative graduates equipped with the knowledge and practical skills required to contribute effectively to healthcare, diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industries, and research and development.
Upon successful completion of the B.Sc. in Molecular Diagnostic Technology, graduates will be able to:
1. Explain the fundamental principles of molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, and related biomedical sciences relevant to molecular diagnostics.
2. Describe and evaluate recent advances, technologies, and emerging applications in molecular diagnostic testing.
3. Apply fundamental molecular diagnostic techniques for the detection and analysis of DNA, RNA, proteins, pathogens, and other biological markers.
4. Select and justify appropriate diagnostic methods and tools based on the disease condition, clinical or research question, and biological sample type.
5. Perform common molecular and laboratory diagnostic procedures accurately, safely, and according to established laboratory practices.
6. Operate and apply molecular diagnostic technologies, including PCR, sequencing, ELISA, electrophoretic, cytogenetic, immunological, imaging, and other laboratory-based techniques.
7. Analyze and interpret molecular and laboratory diagnostic data using appropriate scientific and statistical approaches.
8. Troubleshoot common technical problems encountered during molecular diagnostic procedures and propose appropriate solutions.
9. Integrate theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills to address diagnostic and research problems in healthcare, industry, and biomedical research.
10. Demonstrate professional, ethical, scientific communication, teamwork, and laboratory safety skills appropriate for careers in molecular diagnostics and related fields.
