Vision
The Department has a comprehensive and an ambitious vision: to provide distinguished teaching environment that enables graduates undertake leadership in their future careers in private and public sectors. Graduates are equipped with very rich and diverse study plans that enable them to pursue their post-graduate study here and abroad. Based on excellence in teaching and research, the Department programmes have expanded horizontally (by providing two different study plans in Pure Chemistry and in Applied Chemistry) and vertically (by providing study plans leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry).
Mission
Since establishment in 1977, the Department's mission, in accordance with that of the Faculty of Science, is helping Arab societies in general, and the Palestinian society in particular to reach sustainable economic and social development by providing them with quality graduates in chemistry at both undergraduate and graduate levels. To achieve this mission, the Department undertakes distinguished teaching and conducts research in pure and applied chemistry and advanced materials, while directly involving students.

To reach a performance level of education and research distinct qualifies graduates to pursue a career or achievement without obstacles or additional requirements for scholarships.

Prepare a generation of graduates to contribute to building a society able to compete and prepare a cadre of specialists in the field of chemistry to improve the community in the areas of education and scientific research, and solving problem facing scientific and industrial development plans in Palestine.
Program Vision
In line with the University policy to adopt distinct disciplines to meet the needs of the local labour market and in light of the significant shortage of qualified cadres in the field of chemistry and their applications in various industries (food, medicines, polymers, leather, detergents, etc.), there has been the opening of the chemistry me. This program addresses this shortage and the resulting level of quality of industrial products. It also raises the level of performance and efficiency of industrial enterprises related.

The program aims at providing the Palestinian society with necessary specialised scientific competencies to serve the society and its development plans, programs, education, industry and conducting applied academic research. It also contributes to the dissemination of scientific culture to provide technical services in the field of chemistry for both the public and private sectors.

Achieve a level of educational performance distinguished qualifies the graduate to teach chemistry from the fifth to the tenth grades in public and private schools, taking into account the use of modern teaching methods in learning and education, in addition to the possibility of graduate follow-up educational achievement in teaching methods.

Prepare a generation of graduates to contribute to building a knowledge society by preparing a graduates who are able to teach different chemistry topics in public and private schools using modern methods of learning and teaching, whether theoretically or laboratory.
