On July 25th 2010, Professor Bassem Shraydeh from the Department of Chemistry at the University has been selected as the recipient of the PFDP Teaching Excellence Award for the year 2010.  Professor Shraydeh is an active researcher who has published over 30 publications in learned international journals. Besides kinetic determinations, his main research interests are solvatochromism and solution kinetics.

Professor Shraydeh has also received the Hisham Hijjawi Prize for Water Analysis and Agriculture in 1998.  He is part of the Advisory Panel for MENA water and the main supervisor of many Masters’ students.  He also contributed actively to the establishment of the PhD program in Chemistry at the University while he was the head of the Department of Chemistry in 1994.  He participated actively in many scientific conferences abroad in Germany, Italy and Oxford.  

The Teaching Excellence Award is supported by the Faculty Development Program PFDP which is sponsored by the AMIDEAST.  The Award is presented to Professor Shraydeh in recognition of his outstanding achievements in teaching and his effective teaching philosophy. The Award will be presented during the academic colloquium dinner at 7.00 pm on Saturday July 31 at Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah
