The Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science organized a workshop titled 'Computing and Simulation in Physics and Engineering' on Saturday, October 5th.

The workshop was led by Professor John Weiner, a visiting Senior Fulbright Expert who's taught and conducted research at many universities including the University of Maryland and Université Paul Sabatier. Participants included undergraduate and graduate students as well as staff and faculty in the physics and computer engineering fields.

The workshop started with an overview and discussion of the recent developments in computation and numerical simulation applied to problems in science teaching and research. Shifting focus, Professor Weiner then gave a demonstration of how to utilize JupyterHub as a tool for teaching high-level scripting languages such as Python.

The workshop concluded with a discussion of numerical simulation and visualization of solutions to Maxwell's equations for problems of research interest.
